It’s an educational and shopping event for people interested in prosthetics, make-up FX and related fields, and their use in everything from major film and television productions to scare attractions and cosplay. It caters for professionals, students, hobbyists and fans alike within a culture of knowledge-sharing and learning. The schedule comprises a full day of demonstrations and educational classes on the Main Stage as well as a back-to-back schedule on the Education Stage. There are also demos and classes on stands plus sale of products, materials and smaller scale prosthetic works. The Monster Mash Exhibition has its own space showing prosthetic creatures and makeup FX by various artists, and the Application Station is a hive of activity with artists applying prosthetic makeups all day and ready to answer your questions..
The event is on Saturday 18th November 2017 from 9am – 5pm. It’s located at the Aston Conference Centre in Birmingham city centre, to reflect the fact that our craft is practiced by people right across the UK and not just in London. This venue helps us make this event as accessible and affordable as possible for all those wishing to attend. Conference Aston is a well-appointed 4-star conference centre and hotel based on the Aston University campus. Recently refurbished, there is a comfortable lounge area close by the exhibition rooms and free WiFi throughout the buildings and courtyard. There is a bar in the hotel just across from the event and two pubs within 100 yards.
By basing ourselves in Birmingham we are more accessible to a much larger area of the UK. It allows people to attend on a day trip as opposed to having to book hotels. An event run over two days can be cost prohibitive for attendees, and they often have a sense of disappointment that they’re missing out if they can’t afford to be there for both days. By making this a one-day event everyone attending gets 100% of what it has to offer.
