Richard Martin has been working in the film and TV industry since 2009, having beaten 731 other applicants for an apprenticeship at Millennium FX where he honed his skills. He has contributed to many screen creatures, characters and effects working as a freelance technician and on set makeup artist. His movie credits include Hercules, Spectre, Victor Frankenstein, The Forest, Assassin’s Creed and A Fantastic Fear of Everything.
He was also part of Millennium FX’s prosthetics crew on A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the BBC, and has regularly worked for them on shows including Doctor Who, Casualty, Mission 2110, Being Human and Wizards Vs Aliens, as well as on Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ video.
Richard specialises in hyper-realism. His company RMFX creates screen prosthetics and hyper-realistic statues and busts for museums, events, collectables companies and the medical industry, for which he uses many of his own innovative techniques. He also runs Eye Creations, making realistic eyes for special effects work in film and TV. This year he’s been busy creating numerous silicone masks for productions as well a likeness mask to try and cheat facial recognition software for a Swedish software company.
If that weren’t enough, he’s also a principal tutor at Gorton Studio, teaching their flagship Makeup FX & Prosthetics Creation course.
