The Application Station showcases the work of seven exciting up-and-coming artists. Located in room G63, you will find them applying full-scale prosthetic makeups in their own dedicated area throughout the day, so check back at intervals to watch their progress and feel free to ask them about their techniques and chosen materials!
Begona F. Martin
Begona is a freelance artist with focus on SFX makeup and character design. She studied at the University of Seville, Winchester School of Art and the University of Arts London. Begona has worked for the BBC and on independent films, and she has just been selected as a finalist for KNB EFX group’s scholarship Legends of Creature Design!
Nikoleta Tzani and Rebecca Truman
Nikoleta and Rebecca are a technician and lecturer in the Media Make-up with Special Effects Department at Bradford College. Their work combines Nikoleta’s prosthetics and Rebecca’s costume design. Nikoleta has worked on many short films and been nominated for Crypt TV’s Fear Awards, while Rebecca’s costumes combine special effects techniques with sculpture to create innovative, wearable design. Her pioneering work is in the Victoria and Albert museum’s permanent Theatre and Performing Arts collection.
Tara Louise Kemp
Tara is an award-winning rising star full of energy. She specialises in all aspects of makeup including prosthetics, body painting, prop-making and sculpture. Creative, adaptable and versatile with an excellent sense of colour and design, Tara has the ability to inspire and motivate others, to meet targets and deadlines and achieve the highest standards.
Jade has completed many courses and much online learning in makeup – her mind is buzzing with creativity and finally she feels ready to take on the makeup world, one step at a time! Last year’s event was a very big step for her; she created ‘Arthur’ a fun, quirky, whimsical character with lots of texture and detail which is characteristic of her work.
Dana is an experienced professional makeup artist and prosthetics-maker, creating the beautiful and the bizarre. She produces makeup for photography and filmmaking, with her invaluable eye for detail. Dana’s style is fresh, clean and inventive. She has worked on many photo shoots, television and music video productions, shorts and features films.
Rebecca loves creating character designs and real life trauma scenarios. Sculpting and the moulding process are where her heart is. She completed a foundation degree in Special Effects, Media Makeup and Hair Design with distinctions at York College, and is now attending Shaune Harrison’s Academy to gain more experience in moulding.
Theodore Rowan Salisbury
Theo founded Exilian Studios in 2014, producing effects and products for character work, prosthetic makeup, sculpture, wig making, 3D printing, laser cutting, welding and mould making. His work has featured all over the globe on the big and small screens and he and Exilian have worked with many high-profile companies and filmmakers.
