2018 BODY ARTISTS
The Body Art Zone buzzes with high-octane creativity from the moment the doors open to when the models step onto the Main Stage for the Body Art Catwalk that closes the event. Every artist incorporates a prosthetic into their work and the end results are always extraordinary and often extreme!
Aris is a makeup, special effects and body artist from Greece, now based in London working for brands such as Dior and Bobbi Brown. He has collaborated on many projects in Greece including Greece Got Talent, as well as working with George and Roulis Alahouzos in their special effects workshop.
Venice won the 2017 Olympia Brush Wars Body Painting Pro category and assisted Sarah Smith in securing 5th place in the Airbrush category at the 2018 World Body Painting Festival. She teaches at the Lincolnshire Beauty Therapy & Makeup Academy, represents the Midlands Bodypaint Project and founded Transformation Station Events.
Mona is our Body Art Zone Captain. She is a body art tutor at The Iver Makeup Academy, Pinewood Studios and a sought-after artist. Her critically acclaimed work was at the BAFTA opening ceremony performance in 2018, commissioned by a partnership between The Shape of Water, Cirque de Soleil and BAFTA.
Sarah Scarer Smith
In July Sarah entered The World Bodypainting Championships in Austria where she placed 5th in the Pro’ Airbrush category with assistant Venice Marshall and model Stephanie Beal. She also airbrushes murals, hand paints shoes, face paints and teaches body art and face painting at conventions in the UK and abroad.
Erica is a professional face and body artist living in the Cotswolds. She has been painting for twelve years and during that time has attended many body art events and won the Professor’s Apprentice competition at Paintopia in 2012. Erica says she especially loves the creativity and diversity of body art.
Angela Youngs for Paintopia
Angela has been painting for around 10 years and has painted in some amazing places and countries. This year her theme is ‘The Tree of Life,’ marking the event’s fifth anniversary with the traditional ‘wood’. Angela will be creating her take on the majestic Queen of the Forest on Ellis Rose Rother.
June has a background in art and design and making dance costumes. She runs a face painting business, painting and providing special FX at shows, theatres, clubs, conventions and festivals, along with working with prestigious corporate clients. She has won many competitions including Body Painter of the Year at The Living Art Show 2017.
Lorraine has been body painting for around 9 years. With her background being in art, she also has a love of theatrical costume, and uses these influences in her body painting. She will visualise a scenario as if seeing a painting and painstakingly recreate that vision using the body as the canvas. Photo by Banbury photography.
Ellie Baskerville and Sue Bardwell for Airbase Makeup
Between them Ellie and Sue have worked with various brands including SKY, BBC, Honda and L’Oréal and demonstrated extensively. They are both passionate about the makeup industry and work in education, sharing their knowledge with the artists of the future as well as running an alternative life drawing event that gives artists the opportunity to draw their creatively painted and styled models.
Ziggy has been face and body painting at festivals for over six years and recently graduated from the Iver Academy at Pinewood Studios. She enjoys working across a spectrum of disciplines, fusing her creativity with prosthetics, airbrushing, paint and millenary musings. We’re looking forward to seeing what Ziggy creates for us!
Catriona Finlayson for Paintopia
Cat is a prolific figure in the body art arena, having won most UK body/freehand glitter competitions, and was a World Finalist for the UK in the Professional Brush & Sponge Category. She also teaches and is a long-standing committee member of the International Face Painting Association. She crafts all her own prosthetics, accessories, and stencils.
Nicola teaches specialist body art classes for Gorton Studio and is half of Nicotine Body Painters with fellow body artist Justine Darwent. She is also founder and director of BodyFactory, the only pure body painting festival in the UK and the only one with a ‘no theme’ competition voted by the public.
Helen is qualified in bodypaint, airbrush makeup and theatrical, special effects, hair and media makeup. She won her regional heat at Worldskills in 2017 and came second in the UK final for bodypainting. She has also competed in the World Bodypaint Festival and won the pro category in bodypainting at the National Make-up Awards.
Suzanna Forrister-Beer for Kryolan
Suzanna will be demonstrating on the Kryolan stand in the Exhibitors’ Rooms. This year she has worked alongside celebrity artists, for royalty and influential industry brands. She was also part of an elite makeup team working in the Saudi desert, on project Qiddia, launching the world’s largest entertainment city and theme park.
Georgia is an Iver Academy-trained hair and makeup artist, whose passion truly lies with prosthetics and character creation – the creepier the better! Georgia most recently worked in the prosthetics department for ‘Men in Black 4’ and like most artists, she finds beauty in the macabre.
