Darren Nevin is a freelance artist who was born and bred in Birmingham, specialising in fantasy/horror sculpture creating silicone busts & masks. Darren is self-taught, and has had an interest in all things SFX from a young age after being inspired by some of Hollywood’s greats: Ray Harryhausen, Dick Smith and Rick Baker.
While Darren’s first passion was stop motion animation, it was Internet sites such as The Monster Lab (now the FXLab) that helped Darren turn his childhood hobby into a dream profession. Darren’s first professional sculpting job offer came from none other than Neill Gorton. Soon, he began working on numerous TV & film projects at Millennium FX: including ‘Doctor Who’, ‘Being Human’, ‘Britain’s Fattest Man’, ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’, ‘L.V.K’. and ‘The Wolfman’. Most recently he has enjoyed working for Neal Scanlan Studio. Darren is available for freelance work and private commissions, as well as offering prop & mask making workshops for schools, colleges & universities.
