Laura graduated in 2017 from the University of Bolton with first class honours in BDes (Hons) Special Effects for Film & TV. At the event she will be showing two pieces, the first being ‘Koba’ her second year university practical piece that aimed to produce a replica model of the character Koba from the movie ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’. This was sculpted in plastiline 55, moulded in fibreglass, cast in Pro-Gel 10 silicone with a foam core, painted, then hair punched with yak tail. The eyes are also hand painted.
Her second exhibit is a Viking inspired character created for her third year university practical piece alongside her dissertation, which was based on the anatomy of the human head, face and neck. The Viking was sculpted in WED clay, moulded in fibreglass, cast in Pro-Gel 10 silicone with a foam core, painted, then hair punched with a human hair/yak tail blend.
